• H+Son Archetype are expensive, 72e per wheel on wiggle. The CNC's 42SL are 45e per wheel (+24 shipping). Hmm...only 30e difference. Not so bad. There is a better price than 72e per wheel?

Also, sturmey archer hubs will be fine? Any suggestions for spokes and nipples (I know, red)? Also, rim tape should be 16mm or 22mm? Velox should be good enough? A lot of newbie questions, sorry...

  • Any suggestions for spokes and nipples (I know, red)?

I like Sapim CX-Ray bladed spokes - nice but pricey, and probably pointless with 32 spokes, so for your build I'd probably go with Sapim Race/DT Swiss Competition. As for nipples, I've always got on well with Sapim Polyax ali nipples. In fact, I find them more durable and tougher than brass ones. Hard to go wrong with Sapim Race/Polyax IMHO.

  • Thank you! It seems Sturmey Archer are not made for less than 32h. About the spokes, J aero bladed, double butted, close to 350 grams (for 64 spokes), black, I guess it would be more than fine. Also I don't like to spend a fortune on the spokes, but I am looking for a nice balance between lightness, shiftiness. Usually city bikes are selling comfort, good looking, stuff like this...

The last four days I was on Steve site reading about tires, rims width and height and different profile rim shapes. Btw. Archetype's ETRTO is 17mm?

Do should I expect from this SA hubs, how many km? 2k at least? Could I hope for 5k? Should I go for other like Miche, Novatec, etc?

@Wyshniukas @ugosantalucia - indeed, e = euros. I will write full currency name, idk the shortcut for €.

Just a curiosity. I never ride carbon wheels. Is such a big difference of comfort, shiftiness vs alloy wheels? Why is that?
