Yup, had to do a detour on the way home

same! still, better than an accident. Asked a coppa what was going on and she said there'd been a "serious incident" and i worried all the way home. Although if she'd said "there's a bomb in the thames" i probably would have worried more.

Road bike makes such a difference to the commute. Ahhh, joy of joys!

!
Was wondering what that was. The police were taping over the junction just as i came to turn over Waterloo bridge.

Lots of police on the north side of Lambeth Bridge this morning and loads of people standing on the bridge itself. Any idea what was going on?

• #16282
#bridgesnotwalls innit.
-
• #16283
Ah, cheers! Didn't see any banners/signs or anything really going on. Just some people milling about and police vans parked in the middle of the roundabout on the North side...

You've come all that way, you could extend your commute by 3-4 mins and go over Southwark Bridge instead and then use City backstreets to get to Fenchchurch street? I know I only go Peckham - LVP ST but I don't think Towerbridge is worth it even though it's closer.

Yeah, the same over Blackfriars this am, gathering of people and what looked like a banner in a roll....??

I saw a real live badger this morning. He popped out of the hedge onto the bike path in front of me and trundled along for about 20 yards before disappearing off back into the hedge. There focking massive aren't they.

Saw them on Southwark Bridge Road too, with obligatory Plod in attendance, just in case it really kicked off.

For those who ride along the embankment - works have begun for the Thames Tideway project - there is currently a diversion in place.

Click on 'View map' to view the diversion route and traffic impact which will be in place until around 2021.

I tried to give a driver the finger the other day, but forgot I was wearing lobster gloves - just ended up looking weird, I suspect.
Thumbs down, on the other hand, would still work.

Anyone know what the roads of south London are like this morning? Was going to be my first bike commute in over three months but the frost on the cars outside is not filling me with much confidence.

I'm looking at my first bike commute in 18 months. Got jury service in London Bridge and it's train strike day. Plus ice and this sounds, ummmm, fun.
I may walkenger.

I was hoping that as it was dry the roads may be OK, but from my window in Upper Norwood (for life) it may as well have been snowing, such is the frost.
easy easy everyone, no pro level , epo sucking rider here!!! 50mins ONE way on average (i.e. windy behind = 45m windy ahead = 55m) :) :)
