2, 3 and 4 are great.

Well, that's far better than I fancied ;)
2 more (houses are really hard to capture indeed).

Ha! That wasn't sarcasm.
I get ~ 1 in 36 that I feel show/do/mean anything. I'm alright with that.

Nice work. I've added a link to the Film Camera Review thread to the first post of this thread.

Question for the LFGSS film photography hive-mind...
I've just got back from my honeymoon in Thailand and had 8 rolls of film developed — I took my trusty Pentax Espio Mini with me which I normally swear by but sadly this time it let me down. I took a mix of Portra 400, Vista 200, and Ektar 100. Whilst the majority of the shots I am happy with, about a 3rd of them came out completely, well, weird or completely out of focus which I've never had an issue with before. It's not a scanning/developing issue I don't think because it was only a few photos per roll that were dodgy. I could definitely feel there was something wrong with the camera though because it kept rewinding itself a few frames and misbehaving in other ways (which according to Google is a common problem with these cameras). Here are a few examples, the last one being how the majority of the photos came out...
My question is, it's going to cost more than the camera did originally to repair it so I'm looking to replace it with something similar but different, so what should I replace it with? Ideally looking for something sub—£100.

Also I want to get something that doesn't automatically print the bloody date in the bottom corner of every photo...

And here are some of the slightly more successful ones...

Olympus XA or MJU II? Both small but capable of great results.

Great shots. I'm pretty sure you can switch through the modes on the date till it shows blank lines, then it won't print onto the pics.

Sounds like some problem with the electronics?
Did it get wet by chance?
Other than that I have no idea, mine never behaved like that.
Did the focus indication light up with the shots that came out dodgy?I think I'd just get another one of them in good condition as you seem to like it and are used to it.
Of course there's a lot of other nice point and shoots in that price range.
I did buy a lot of them and kept the three I liked best. I think one has to hold them in ones hand, and shoot a roll with them to decide whether it suits.
If I could only have one (sub £100) I think I'd take a Nikon L35AF, or if "pocketability" mattered much an Olympus Mju-II. -

Greater results than the Pentax? I was actually looking at the XA a few days ago...

All the ones that came out dodgy/didn't come out at all had indicated that they were in focus and exposed correctly, so I guess it must be an internal/electronics issue. And as far as I know I've never got it wet... I do want another one, but the ones I was looking at on eBay the other day were about 3 times the price of what I originally paid 3 years ago!

Olympus XA
..as much as I love the XA it always baffles me when somebody recommends it as an alternative to an auto-focus point-and-shoot.
Really was a totally different way of shooting for me. -

Also the size of the Pentax was a big factor in why I liked it so much...

Honestly I don't know, I always enjoy the photos from my XA, they have character.

There's not much available at the moment, but keep checkin back eBay Germany.
A lot of them went for really cheap there in the last weeks.. -

Cheers guys, that's a massive help though and given me a good starting point!

They definitely do, I love it.
I was just saying that for me it's really a different kind of shooting.
Greetings from France.
