Can anyone suggest a fork that would make a V3 handle more like a V4?
Got a V3, used as a commuter, but the blurb about the V4 being a bit quicker/more agile/more aggressive suits what I'm used to. Disc mount would be a bonus. Thanks in advance. -

Great info again again. Thanks. I went ahead and bit the bullet.. ordered a medium raw.

Missed the sales, what do these pompino go down to? 100 notes and I might pull the trigger.

Hopefully I can get a medium at that price soon.
Ideally raw lacquer, but not fussed.Edit quick question, are the centre pull cantilever brakes compatible with a rear rack?

I was reading through the whole thread and saw a few instances with cracked frames. Does anyone know if the v4s still have this issue?
-
• #6434
Anecdotally, I've had a v4 for the last 10,000km and had no issue with it.

Nice. Well I won't be taking it off any sweet jumps, so hoping I get the same type of mileage.

My V3 has done ca 28,000 miles of mixed terrain and is still going strong.

Ordered 4 days ago and my wife just told me the bike arrived today. It was supposed to be built today.. pretty good service as far as speed from PX

And I take that back. Forgot I ordered my son a bike and my wife told me a bike arrived. Raced home to check out my new pompino and ended up sorting out a size 14 Ridgeback, lol

Nice. Got it in last night and set it up quickly.. first commute this morning.
After riding my small Kaffenback for 6 months or so now, the medium is such a refreshing change. Definitely made a mistake ordering a small K, should've read this forum first. The pompino is very zippy and quick.. perhaps I've forgotten what it's like to ride a fixed/ss. The only thing I've done so far is added a SS cog.
One thing I wanted to ask you all is whether or not these levers would work for the mini v brakes?
Got a mtb bar I'm going to throw on and picked those levers up on ebay.. and then realized I'd never had mini vs before and know nothing about compatibility.

Do they have two positions for the cable end to fit into? If so then they're dual-use ones.

I'm at work so can't check physically, but googled this:
Used this as a purchase point:
Model: RS360A Brake Lever set
Material: Cast aluminum lever & bracket
Lever Blade: 2 finger lever blade
For Use With V-Brake And Rapidfire Shifter Cast Aluminumbut then realized I have mini vs and not vs so thought maybe I made the wrong choice.

The levers will work fine.
Maybe not the ideal perfect manufacturer intended pull ratio modulation blaa blaa, but they will work. Decathlon sell them (unbranded but otherwise identical), and I've been using them with road caliper brakes on a SS bike with zero problems. -

Thanks Lukas!

Pretty sure the V4 raw pomp came out before the mash work no?
-
• #6446
I know what you mean but the original V4 raw just looked abit dull and more like a painted gray, whereas the raw burn looks like it has been lacquer clear coated akin to a mash work or cetma 5 rail

so im gonna be in this thread from next, having bought a v3 pomp and a crabon cyclocross fork.
original plan was to acid dip cheaply and run raw but apparently my back in 2011 dutch "tenner?!" is actually more 50 euros in berlin for an acid dip, or 35 euros sandblasted. guess rattlecan grey or diy strip is the way forward.
anyway, looking fwd to it! watch this space. -

That's a Pompetamine, yes? What's the fork though?
Yes, the v3 geo chart was wayyyyy off, afair it was originally designed as a road bike with a 370mm a-c fork and geo chart was based to that. Then they slapped longer fork and called it a crossbike. So in reality angles were slack and bb was high (measured 55ish bb drop).
With v4 the geo chart seems accurate atleast.
Ridden both; had v3, now have v4. They both ride well, but v4 feels better.
