They are awesome, but because they are base on an old design, they can squeal horribly when pads not aligned, in order to aligned them, you may need to actually bend the arm (which is actually how they aligned pads back then before we have washer).
They are without a doubt very powerful and stiff, with no judder at all, I love mine but it take quite some time to get it set up.
They are better than Canti because of the lack of fork judder for a more powerful feel and still obtain massive clearance for a huge mudguard, however the biggest limitation is the choice of brakes, whether cantis you get a massive choices, but required more fiddling.
Are there any independent reviews of the Compass centrepulls out there? Am currently idly dreaming about a custom frame designed around 650bx42, but would like to find someone other than Jan Heine enthusing about them. Are they really that much* better than cantis?
*At current exchange rates (thanks, Brexit) they're about £300 including frame braze-ons aren't they?
