Me too, but saw this set up on lovelybike with a 650b x 38 set up and it looks tantalisingly close - hard to tell.

I had TRP CX 8.4 with a 35mm guard and the cable used to rub. I ran Kojaks under it which come in 30/32-ish. You can go full size V but will need something to compensate the cable pull like travel agent.
