Read about the crash on instagram. So much for bodging wheel transport.

1x1 is riding well with slicks even in the slop, imagine supple tyres in summer would be a blast!

I was in Epping today testing out my new wheels and 2.1" Vittoria Peyotes.
It was not a succes. The clay and leaves completely jammed the drivetrain and there is not enough clearance for wheels to rotate freely. I'll happily swap if somebody has some 1.95" they'd like to pass on.. -

Vittoria Peyotes.
I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but slicks are going to perform a lot better on clay than knobbies. Maybe explore something like the Compass Switchback Hill (or Horizons if you're completely lacking in imagination)

Whats your clearance like? Without mud obviously. I was hoping to get to epping next week but thinking my clearances might be a bit narrow with 40c knobblies

I have 5mm on either side on the rear. It is mostly the start of Epping down towards Walthamstow. Clay mud and leaves just clog up on big know tyres. Spotter was on his cx bike and didn't have nearly as many issues

If you're looking for skinnier 650b knobblies then Conti have the MudKing in 1.8 or you have the Specialized Crossroads in 1.9.

Thanks I'll take a look

Look at the Schwalbe G-One, they come in 650b as well in a 1.5 sizes, not massive but allow you ample clearance at 40c.

That's the worst type of mud a bicycle can ever meet.

Wheel build is almost done, I need a 38mm tyre. Leaning towards Gravel King 1.5 tubeless. Loup loup pass a more spendy option (possibly for summer). Any other options?

That's my old neck of the woods. We used to ride 1.4" on mountain bikes over the winter. Anything else would just clog solid in wet weather.
Switch back to fat tyres for the summer.

Got my Raleigh Maverick kitted out with 650b wheels and some Specialized Crossroads 1.9 tyres for bikepacking duties this year. I'm going to swap out the rear pannier rack for a large saddle pack, any recommendations?

You already have restrap non? Keep on going with that. Alternativly, any of the hundreds of companies that now do this stuff. Bikepak.pl for cheap but well made. OTP like specialized burra stuff. Blackburn. Or custom a la Swift, bigXtop, Apidura, Porcelain rocket. Blah blah blah.
Money is your limit

Unless you choose based on weight, the ones with a holster make more sense as replacing a dry bag should be cheaper than a whole new bag.
I particularly like this one if you have enough clearance. Haven't tried it myself though.http://www.alpamayodesigns.com/index.php/products/out-back/seatpack.html

(ps. someone buy my whisky disc fork)

Wtf is this. Doesnt look like a hidden fender mount to me
-
• #946
you know what would make it to bicyclepubes .. a direct mount full carbon fork that takes centrepull brakes either Paul or Compass. I would be the first to buy.
Given how the pads are sitting right at the bottom of a 73mm reach brake I presume it wont work with Paul Racer which has 67mm reach.
Has the disc backlash started?

Discs are over 🙃
I wouldn't run it with 584 but the a2c a nice match for my og Rychtarski fork

Perfect for a tri spoke or disc wheel ala:

Anyone have experience fitting mini-V brakes to a 650b x 42 set up with mudguards. Thinking TRPs or Paul Minimoto's or Motolites. Do they clear?
This is for a Soma GR build with Hetre's and Berthoud 650b x 50 mudguards.
Ha mucho budgies for wheel transport. Although that's now ended up in a bruised hip!
@jambon yes they do look good! I'm excited now
