I'm pulling the trigger on those. They are constantly well reviewed rather then the hit and miss of others.
Definitely worth a gamble. -

Some kind of hardware binaural processor. I had no idea this existed, and interesting in a nerdy way. Not, unfortunately, interesting enough for me to want it...

Good news!
My SE215s already have an issue where one headphone cuts out. Shortest lasting headphones ever. -

Anyone got any ideas for something else or should I try again?

a little tip - when you need to replace the little tampons, get the blue ones, without the little foam wax guard in the hole. they sound a little bit more open.

What's the build quality like? never seen a pair in the flesh but they look flimsy and plasticky?

Cups are metal and solid. The band is plastic but feels secure. Overall, they're very light but that's what makes them great; you really can't feel them after a minute or two.
The reviews from various sources seems a bit hit and miss for those.
A tad too expensive to gamble as I would like them quick so a UK based retailer is a better option.
Some people are saying that they are no better the e10.
Any other suggestions and volume and mic remote would be good too.
