Put engineered wood on top of it and forget it was ever there.

I'd rather live in Downham than Bromley. Bromley is for people who think green plastic is a better option than grass.

Tbf you'd need to have had a lobotomy to drop 775k on that house in Leytonstone. They are flying a kite- fishing for a mug.

Thnx guys
Like I give a fuck
-
• #16859
Are they actually kite flying though? What do similar houses in Bushwood go for?

Nah, that's going rate but what do I know, I'm clearly crackers.

Surely a couple of pairs of antlers will add 10%?
If this is true that place must be worth about 100% more than the rest on the street!

On worktops, we love our copper one. It's expensive but very hard wearing and the more you spill on it the better it looks. Which also means it's good if you don't like cleaning much (it's also naturally antimicrobial)!
I'd be a bit wary of concrete ones. I don't have experience of one myself but do know it's surprisingly easy to stain concrete with oils etc. If you'd like a concrete style worktop that's more practical I'd suggest considering microcement. It's totally impervious to everything and you can get finishes that look like just about anything. I can recommend a contractor...

£775k around me
That top one is actually nice. But yeah, Bromley.
@Tenderloin if you're not paying over the odds it's your money, live where you like. Just be sure first...

Actually it's the banks money and he should google margin call. Those houses were half a bar not long ago.

"It propertaaaay mate it only ever goes up"
"It's Free money m8"
"You can't go wrong m8 my house earns more than me every year"
Rinse and repeat etc

• #16866
That's what kind of surprised me, mates of mine got one like that in Leyton for £500k about a year ago ... wouldn't be surprised if that's the going rate now though, everything's completely mad

• #16867
We're looking at worktops, got any photos of that lush copper?
-
• #16868
@Tenderloin Does this new house really offer that much more than your current abode?
-
• #16869
Please explain to me how you would get a margin call on a residential mortgage...

Advice needed... I own the flat but Mrs Sparky (we're not actually married) has savings. My fixed mortgage runs out October next year. If we wanted to get her on the deeds and dump her money into the flat, how hard is that? Solicitor's fees, stamp duty etc? How do people normally arrange such things?
-
• #16872
I'm allowed to overpay ~10% each year and have done some of that already. LTV is currently around 40% and would be 20% after Mrs Sparky.
-
• #16873
You buy at a silly price and come refinance time or if you want a further advance, the bank say you are no longer at your previous LTV , pls bung some money in to bring it up. Can and does happen.

The overpayment should be easy, assuming it's possible with your lender. Stamp duty is only paid when you purchase a house so, as far as I'm aware, shouldn't come into the equation. You'll need a solicitor to make changes to the deeds and write a deed of trust between you.
