It is a GC.
It's lower, wider, longer and has a sportier roofline than the 3 series. It's also a hatchback (powered trunk) which is much better for lugging things around. All reviews have the 4GC as better to drive, more planted and nicer looking (my opinion too).

This. Current BMW lineup makes almost no sense until you see them lined up with a spot the difference type check list next to them.
Remember "telling" a dealer down the phone he was wrong once, and maybe he shouldn't be in the business of cars if he didn't know difference between a hatch and a saloon.
Turned out I was wrong, Mk2 mazda 6 come in saloon and hatch, he had a hatch for sale that I was convinced was saloon only and therfore useless to me.
New car :).
