This is actually one of the FAQ's on their website. Basically, don't do it. You will die

In answer to the mudguard question the 28mm Grand Bois just fit under the 35mm Bluemels guards with not much to spare. They don't rub while I'm testing them but I'll be sure to take a little spanner or on first proper ride. Cheers.

Thanks for the heads up, was actually googling that for an hour straight :/

I could fit my finger in the gap, shouldn't be that tight, have you got the guards pushed all the way up in the caliper? I swapped the plastic mount on the rear for a metal one which gave me about 5mm more clearance along with bending the front one away from the crown race area giving me another 5mm

Some great builds here and its good to see a few more Glitter Dream Stragglers. Heres a few of mine. I've had it 2 years now and it's definitely here to stay.
Last year's winter mode (doesn't look nearly as good):
Since these were taken the only change was to remove the old Turbo and replace it with an all Black WTB Rocket which is way better.

Guessing you came from an MTB background? Short stem and wide bars looks a bit odd, but probably fun.

Looks fun. I regret going for boring old black for my (wife's) straggler. sparkles look ace in the sun!

Kinda. It's more that I can't get on with drops. Always had riser bars on my fixed gears and my other bike was always a BMX so that probably had some influence too. I had mountain bikes years ago and actually only got another one after I had built this. The trend with all my bikes are high front ends and riser bars!

Bit of a cross ref to my recent race with my Karate Monkey.
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/296047/Things that went wrong.
Wrong footware for flat pedals, must get some skate trainers again.
Stupid racing challenge up hill which snapped chain and smacked my scrote on the top tube.
Chain snapped again, belived damage carried over from snap 1.
Tyre buzz on frame when stuffing it into berms. Running gears now and wheel was slammed forward, this was fine in the car park but buzzed on track.
Out of practice.
Out of shape.
Not drunk or hungover.
Wasn't until mid morning i got a cheeseburger (food is important while racing)

Chain damage.
It did hold together after 2 snaps, i reckon i just overwhelmed it the first time and a bit of poor shifting......

Dug out the frame box and in the bottom lurked the Monkey Nuts.
Never thought i would use these, but needs must, they space the axle back 5mm in the dropouts, more for front mech clearance but also good when running fat rubber.

Monkey Nutted dropout.
Wheel is set back 5mm and tyre clears frame. Thankfully the wheel Q/R being new didn't slip while racing or the wheel might have jammed to the frame.
I think i will drop the rear brake from 180 to 160 and use the older black and gold M4's on Monk :)

Nice! I can't see myself owning a Pacer but this is a really nice build
-
• #322
Thanks. It's not a super fast bike but it is comfy. It's going to be good for all day rides.
-
• #323
Very tasty, congrats! If it rides anything like the rest of their frames this'll be one hell of a comfy all day/endurance bike.

Has anyone got any experience with changing the stock Steamroller forks for some lighter carbon items? If so, what should I look out for, and any particular recommendations?
I'd like to run the same long drop Miche rim brake which I run on the stock forks, other than that I'm open to ideas...

Recently became a Surly Straggler owner too, and due to the limited space in the apartment it's currently the only bike I use. I have many ideas to use it, mostly bikepacking trips.. Started today with a small one for the weekend

Yeah the shape is different, chromoplastics are boxy, the bluemels are rounded so you can tuck them up in the caliper properly, also wouldn't be surprised if 45mm blumels and 32's fit
Also have a question, has any one here fitted a 1 inch steamroller fork and threaded it for a quill stem?
