  • I'll big up the POC Octal.

Received mine and worn it a few days... makes me redefine what I think is important in a helmet.

I hated wearing one, and knew a lot was to do with comfort but I didn't really understand how comfortable one of these can be. They're big and the looks are definitely a love/hate thing, but I simply do not feel it at all. It doesn't inhibit airflow, it doesn't crush the ears, it doesn't seem to weigh anything, I just do not feel it.

Also, the colours. I figured the orange is pretty ugly, but only orange and white were available and it's not a small helmet so I figured the white would look even larger so I'll go with the orange. What makes a big difference about such a visible helmet is how much quicker drivers appear to both detect and acknowledge eye contact. I am not making eye contact any more than I used to, but having a visible helmet is getting it acknowledged more often and sooner.

It was an expensive helmet, but definitely a good buy.

And I notice that @_Zed_ has a medium one available up there ^^^^^^^^^ for only £100.

If you're in the market, you can't do wrong with a POC Octal if it proves comfy for you (and so far in this thread a fair number have said that it's blissfully comfortable, to the degree that you don't feel it).
