Not trying to teach you to suck eggs if you already know this, but a belt can be new and have play if it was never tightened properly or if it hasn't been re-tightened after it's initial stretch.
If it's not frayed or cracked then I'd just tighten it up, have a leaf through the service history if you've got any and have a look when it was last replaced.
just a bit grimy under the bumper.
I think it has been undersealed. The sills have definitely been done but got some axel stands on order to check the underneath proper. Will do it if it hasn't been, seems a relatively easy job
belt doesn't look too new, has a bout 15mm of play which is higher than the tolerance within the Haynes.
good advice about the seating position... will definitely look into that
and yeah, radio on the passenger side, though it is not the original cassette... it is a shan CD player... was looking forward to cracking out the cassette collection as well.
