I'm a bit confused, what is the apple airport express?
Is it like a Chromecast but white?
Or is it just an extra router to stick onto the router given to me by my Internet provider?

Airport express can stream from iTunes or airplay to them from ios. Ive had a couple for a few years and they work well, especially if you're iTunes/ripped cd library listener. You join them to your wifi to do this, and you ignore a bunch of networking stuff that they also can do.
Looks like there's an audio industry push led by DTS to compete with Sonos in the streaming space called play-fi, which has a fair few devices behind it now. Chromecast audios work fine if all you're listening is Spotify.
After getting a free Sonos play1 I'll be likely buying more soon, as they sound fantastic for such a small speaker, and allow me to listen to both ripped CDs and Spotify easily with great phone apps.

Wheres this from? 2001?
Airport express is very much like Google cast thing... to be honest, if I wasn't so Apple product based I would prob go for Google cast instead.
I have one Extreme and one Express. The Extreme is connected to my router and provides wifi (routers is switched off) and I have a USB HDD plugged into it providing wireless back ups of my iMac and the wifes MacBook Pro.
My Airport express is in my living room connected to my Hifi so I can stream from any Device.
It's all pretty seamless and easy.

So it is a Google cast plus as it were (for my simple mind).
Why do you have the second (Express) one? Can you not just use the Extreme for both the wi-fi + streaming.

chromecast mother fucka!
and chromecast audio!(im only being objectionable since youre being confrontational)
I have no idea where its from... I just googled it. Thats what came up. Its a little white box that only works with other certain white boxes to push magik through the air to make speakers work using magnets.

Fuck, I'm glad it didn't take 45 mins with me looking over your shoulder! Normally you'd expect it to be the other way round.

All this dongle chat is tedious as fuck. Almost makes me miss conversations about speaker cable.
Can we go back to lusting over valve amps and hi-end speakers now please?
-

my 2 chromecasts have arrived!

How do you mean?
;)
I want one of these, because.

Ha, I didn't mean to be confrontational, sorry, I thought we were having "mad bantz", but I can see how it could read as confrontational...
But you're spot on with the white boxes!

• #3724
Annoyingly no... although you don't need 2.
The Extreme connects decides (printers and drives) and creates or extends a Wifi network.
The Express just plugs into hifis to play audio, works on any network, you can plug a printer int out too (I have just found out) but not a drive.... gone up to £100 bloody quid now though! Could have sworn they were only about 40-60 when I bought mine. Should prob be asking for more than £25 for my spare. -

I have one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAQIN-MC-10T-GD-10L-EL34-x4-Vacuum-Tube-Push-Pull-Integrated-Amplifier-110v-240v-/262345217653 - can recommend it, especially when you replace the pre-amp tubes
These look like a bargain and sound good apparently...
