  • Everything on there would come off, question is can the BB sleeve be removed non-destructively?

  • Some seller's photos amaze me

  • It's possible it doesn't and it's actually BSA. The later, low end model frames weren't BB30.

    Iirc :)

  • Really? I did not know that, thought all the frames were the same level/spec

  • And who can suggest a foolproof way of asking the current owner what BB this frame has? He's not very technical, when it comes to bikes.

  • Towards the end of the USA production they did a run of System Six and Six13 frames that were BSA.

There's a chance it could have the BB30 logo on the bottom. Not sure the lack of it is definitive though.

That said, I can't find any BSA frames that aren't painted. No Sora ones either. So not sure what's going on here.

  • The guy has ridden it once, says it's basically brand new.

I think his price is a bit optimistic, what's fair in this situation (if it's BB30)?

  • I asked what bottom bracket shell the frame had, the response was "Sora".

  • facepalm

  • Nice and bargainz :)

Especially as the fork service will have cost the seller some £££ too...

  • Unless you have plans of weight weenie-ing this with SISL2s, why not just use shimano 24mm cranks with the existing adapter?

  • Because anyone using a non BB30 crank in a Cannondale BB30 frame should be taken out, put against the wall and shot.

  • I'll be using a 24mm crank in my frame because I have it already and the frame came by chance with a matching BB

Get it over and done with quick, and tell my mum I love her

  • Because it makes the bike more musical?

  • Sent an offer :)

My dad wants to confiscate the F500 project that is now finished so might have to build this one up to please my ego.

oh someone can get all his (hers) cycling needs covered. in style.
so glad 56 is too big for myself.

  • Little bit of Cannondale love today - took the old '05 CAAD 8 out for a spin today. Freshly cleaned and running smooth especially on the 28mm Gravel Kings that I have not bothered to take off.

Went off on my route through the burbs and out to St. Ives (sydney). On the way back I decided to take a left and head to the old fire trails I used to MTB on and see if they'd paved the cycle route there. They had, for about 1 k. Pushed on and 4 kilometres of unintentional MTB trails, rocky decents, creek crossings and sandy trails I got back home. Bike dirty, but totally intact and it was surprisingly able to get through and up everything. Was fun. Much love to C'dale for making a great bike and Panaracer for a great tyre!

The slate all of a sudden is more appealing....

  • Have to strip and rebuild a Cannondale Synpase Alloy Disc.

It's the worse design for cable pull disc brake ever.

The front is fine, easy to make the brake nice and powerful unlike factory, but the rear, that fucking rear, no matter how careful I route the cable, it always feel like the cable is rubbing on ever part of the frame before it hit the calipers.

Whose idea was to put a cable stop right near the headtube, all the way to the rear chainstay??

Even the cheap and cheerful Pinnacle Dolomite have flat mount and front true axles, which is non-existence right up to the Synapse Hi-mod.

  • is this because they were really designed for hydro?

  • is this because they were really designed for hydro?

No, the alloy Synapse were designed to run with cable pull brakes, you can however run full hydraulic which required even more tweaking.

It's just I had never build/service a Synapse Alloy whose rear disc felt silkily smooth.

Just look at the cable housing (that's the entire length, it stop just inside the chainstay), it's even more awkward with the Promax and TRP calipers.

  • my daily bike

  • Cannondale slice disc
This frame could be good with less stuff on it

  • less stuff on it

Yep - like the disc brakes
