  • They really missed the boat integrating with smartphones. That left them trying to appeal to two groups with little overlap; a generation who don't care and the loyal core-users (hobbyist and professional photographers).

Their UX designers are working to this ^ brief so the whole thing ends up as a chocolate teapot.

    Thanks Obama Yahoo!

  • I miss Obama already.

  • New expression learned - chocolate teapot

Come to think of it you're probably right, it's not made for smartphones.
Never quite realised this as I don't upload photos from my phone anywhere - just to instagram, because one has to - and I hate it.
Guess a lot of people want this though.

I don't like flickr's "stream" view, but appreciate the large pool / "groups" and the community.. and I'm a bit nostalgic about it as I've been there in the early days (then went away when they started censoring german users, but went back when they stopped doing this)..

But yeah, very sad to see Yahoo turning things to shit like they do, especially true with tumblr!

  • I need to buy a medium format camera with built in light meter. Preferably rangefinder what does everyone recommend?

Maybe we should have a camera review post at the front of this thread or something?

  • Remember you have the option of using a Voigtlander VC meter in the shoe. That opens up the choice of cameras if you don't Mamiya7ii.

  • If there was a camera review thread, I'd add the link to the first post. Reasonable?

I like the idea of camera and systems reviews, and I think there probably one for film cameras and one for digital.

  • 1st or 2nd edition? Only a couple quid online suprisingly. Biased but don Brassaï's black cat with the eyes one is so good

  • I'd love to do some printing from my negatives but have not idea how to go about it and somehow it scares me......

My Rapha vibe is strong in this set, you're right!

  • If there was a camera review thread

Good idea, I just made one two -
Film camera reviews, and Digital camera reviews.

  • Ok to post reviews (written by myself) that are on external sites?

  • Yea, why not?
    I just did that myself!

  • GR1V arrived today. It's in mint condition, with every part of the LCD working. Doubt its been used much at all. Very, very pleased, especially since finding out the "V" versions have ISO control...

  • Sounds great!

  • Haha, so you'd recommend one then?

  • I just posted in the film camera review thread, maybe you can help?

  • The Mamiya7ii or the meter?

No first-hand experience but I hear both are good.

  • Got back a bunch of films, developed, scanned and printed by Ilford.
    Slowly scanning some of them.

These were shot with the Olympus Trip 35.

The last three with some contrast added when scanning.

The first one was shot in Sa Pa, Vietnam. She's a H'Mong woman with her baby attending daily duties.
