God, that track bike is nice, Gaz. Amazing colour choice too - not sure if I said that before. Have they been in bike porn together yet?

Some photos from the recent VCL trip to Lee Valley:
Updates include 23mm tyres (to make it legal at LV) and damaged saddle and bars from a few weeks ago.
Still haven't bothered ordering matching rims. -

Bloody gorgeous that!

Been a while.
Yesterday I laced my first pair of wheels. They're not amazing so I need to take them to my LBS for truing, but here you go:
10 speed Veloce > Open Pro with Sapim spokes and black nipples.
Track wheels next... I have the rims already and will get different hubs so I can have double fixed and sealed bearings. I'll probably keep the Campag wheels for Sunday best as they're much better looking than what I have in mind. -

Before I call this thing finished and bother taking proper photos etc, I shall be:
-Changing the cockpit on the road bike from Pearl 9 > Deda 215 to Pearl 10 > Noodles or Spotter bars. The Noodles will match the B125AAs better and have a nice deep drop... The Bonts have a flatter transition and I'd polish them to make them a bit more matchy matchy.I'm trying the Noodles out as a road cockpit on the track bike at the moment and I'm not sure what I think yet...I've had Bonts before so I know they're pretty good, although I'd prefer a deeper drop.
Because the track bike has very close clearance forks, I had to use a single-pivot calliper and cut little half-moon profiled magnetic spacers to sit in the fork drop-outs. They make the forks just over 1mm longer and mean that I'm no longer worried about the tyre hitting the underside of the calliper.
So I now can cycle back from HH with a brake : )

Couple of quick updates.
Track bike had Noodles for a bit to test the shape for the road bike:
Now it has polished Spotter bars as it's alternate cockpit:
I'm erring towards Noodles for the road bike so far.
Will someone please produce a deep drop round bar with flat transition in 26.0, please? Also, decided on double-fixed low flange Gran Compe hubs > open pro for the new track bike wheels. Looking forward to not faffing around with sprockets and front wheels every time I use it on the road. Just have to save up a bit:
And, whilst we're at it, here's a shit pic of the road bike with it's shiny new wheels:

Love the whole matching bike thing (I'm a bit late on the thread)

Road wants black wheels

• #240
Nah, track bike wants silver wheels

Not much has been happening with this project lately, so I went and got some trendy handlebars to make myself feel more dynamic and exciting:

Want a Roberts track frame like that a lot. Lucky you! Out of interest, what size and where'd you find it?
-
• #244
Wow, that is exactly the size I'm after. Although I fear the days of £150 bargz are long gone.
It looks like the bike is in good hands though, enjoy it and never sell it. but if you do... pm...I'll have a read of the thread later.

If anyone is looking for a matching set of their own:
Guys got a roberts TT bike too so you could have a full set

I may have an entry in the matching bike stakes coming up.

Not sure if anyone gives a fuck after two years, but here's an update:
I've built a rear wheel and ordered a front hub for the track bike (gran compe s/f > silver open pro, as above), hopefully the front wheel will be finished in a couple weeks.... and I've finally changed the cockpit on the road bike from Pearl 9 > 215's + Fizik soft touch to Pearl 10 > Noodles + Cinelli Caleido. I've also put some Caleido on the track bike. Oh, and I also changed the cable stops so they're black instead of grey.
So.... I just need to build a front track wheel and find some black and white keo plus....
Then I'll be done.Future plans may or may not include some Vredestein gumwalls.
I'll try and get a photo at some point.
I'm going to come down on my Geoffrey Butler (Croydon framebuilder postcode beef).
