Looking for a long sleeved hoodie.
Has some one used this ("Basar Hooded", from 66°North) - or any other recommendations?

If its tight, it's gonna keep you hot hot hot, want to try it

Also (it's not a baselayer, but a "hoody") - this looks super nice: Patagonia's "Merino Air Hoody":
Quite pricey - though they have at least reduced the women's version in the UK store to £99 -
if you happen to be in the USA they (women's and men's) are both down to $89 (from $149!).. -

The patagonia one is nice, I've tried the non-hooded version of that top. They are very thin though, kind of a rib knit base layer rather than a sweater thickness.

Like the Uniqlo heattech tshirts more than Raffar Merino ones, which itch my nips.
Not tried the long johns so cannot advise, but cheaps. -

They are very thin though
..but do they keep you really warm / worth the money you'd say?

http://aboutwear.com has a merino (95%) baselayer with hood
I have an old PX/Onone hoodie in Merino. Enjoying it but its really heavy. Wouldnt wear on bike.

Cheers for the feedback, will check that out..

I wouldn't say really warm, as they aren't windproof in the slightest. I don't think i'd want to wear it as a base layer, more of a mid-layer. If you want warmer merino base layer, have a look at Icebreaker / Mons royale / Ortovox. Designed for skiing, pricey though.

merino zip hoodies, any cheap ones out there? my planet x ones have an embarrassing amount of holes now
-

Cheers. Need something I can wear under a softshell though, their sweats are a bit bulky.
Been reading a bit through the past pages of this thread - Howie's base layers don't have a good rep I gathered, in the sense that they wear down quite fast.. that true with the current stuff?

Never heard of that brand - they have a lot of nice stuff!

No idea about longevity I'm afraid. I only linked as I happened to be buying a new organic cotton hoodie at the time of browsing the forum.
At the end of the day, I'd rather give my money to a small UK company with solid principles, than to Planet-fucking-X. -

Turn the spin speed down on your washing machine. No more shrinkage.

Patagonia's "Merino Air Hoody"
..as they reduced them from €150 to €105 I got one of these now.
Still not that cheap - but I like patagonia, as their business ethics are great, and all products I bought from them were pretty much flawless and very durable. As @chiroshi said it's pretty thin (also very very light), so good as a mid-layer (with some water / windproof layer on top if needed), but would also wear as base, as it's nice on the skin as well.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get cheapish longsleeved lighter weight merino base layers? Find my arms getting cold under armwarmers but heavier base layers I've got are too hot.
They once did a T with back pockets which I removed; completely useless when implemented with a lightweight wool.
I have had no shrinkage problems with mine.
