Took delivery of my first V8 this week.
It's a Dyson. -

Granted it's an E60, but it's a shitload of car for the money:

Ha, Quite the opposite, actually.
I think it's good enough to replace my 'proper' vacuum cleaner. -

You disgust me.

Fewer than 20k of them were produced.
Decent enough investment if you're prepared to sit on it.

In the US they sold a proper manual version.

That they did.

Hello car nerds. Still looking for a car. Have revised budget down to around £10k and have abandoned 4wd and SUV stuff and am now looking at estates. I like the Volvo V60 but can only afford high milers. The smaller/older V50s can be found in budget under 30,000 miles but they're a bit small and dated. Current front runner is any number of low mileage 2011 or later BMW 318 such as the below. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201612300898946?onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&maximum-mileage=50000&make=BMW&body-type=Estate&radius=100&year-from=2011&transmission=Manual&postcode=me138sd&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=price-asc&page=1
Any thoughts?

My current car is a 2009 Passat. I paid £10.5k for it in Jan 2013, when it was just over 3 years old and had 20k miles. It was pretty much like new.
Boring but very adequate 140 bhp, 50+ mpg on a run.
I was intending to buy a 2011 Mondeo estate for the same money, also like new, but it had sold by the time I got there so I bought the Passat instead.
From Car Giant btw. Prices are slightly higher than what you can find in autotrader but you can look at a lot of decent cars in one place and by and large they don't have rubbish.
Either option worth considering IMO.

so I went out at the weekend and bit the bullet and got this little beaut...
A 1995 Rover Mini Sidewalk. nice we Limited (1000) edition version of the Mini Sprite.
Not a spot of rust on it and running as well as a 22 year old car should. Has had one owner since new and has only done 500 miles in the last 3 years. Was MOTed before purchase with no faults and so should be pretty sweet. Need to replace the fan belt as it is making some exiting noises sometimes but otherwise all good.
may also need sunglasses for that interior... I am Scottish though so almost get away with it.

The Land Rover is now on eBay. Any other suggestions for good places to advertise?

edit: ^ that mini is sweet

Love that Mini!

Skoda Yeti will allow you to keep your 4wd and SUV dreams alive.
What do you want the car for / what do you want it to do? Be nice but with 5 seats and some space?
Also very jealous of the mini. Always, always, wanted one. When we were kids a mate had one with a sub so big he'd have to turn the hi-fi off 5 mins before the end of the trip because it would drain the battery!

Doin' it rite! :)

Get that shit undersealed otherwise it will be rusty before we get to summer.
95 Sprite so it's 1.3 SPi? Should run sweet and be plenty nippy around town. Belt could be fine, if it's only done 500 miles in the last 3 years it's probably still new and just done it's initial stretch, the alternator is 3 bolts (2 fasteners and 1 hinge) and dead easy to tighten.
A set of Wipac clear lense headlights will make a good difference driving at night and there's a steering column lowering bracket that's a 20-30 min job if you find the driving position is too bus like.
All that won't change the appearance and will make a decent difference to driving enjoyment.
Is there a stereo fitted under the passenger side of the dash?

Reply cheers man
Amazing the difference in running an older car. gear box is so blocky and having to double de-clutch at some points which makes it exciting.. nice to actually have to think about driving.. like riding fixed but for cars.

Also might just be the pics but that lower valance under the front bumper, is it a touch rusty or just grimey?
-
• #32196
Shame you didn't go for the pickup, back when I used to be crazy into Minis, a good mate restored a Mk1 pickup with a hench cammed 1380, fire breather on 10" split rims and it sounded so good. A little bit of a "sleeper" even if it was a bit noisy.

just a bit grimy under the bumper.
I think it has been undersealed. The sills have definitely been done but got some axel stands on order to check the underneath proper. Will do it if it hasn't been, seems a relatively easy job
belt doesn't look too new, has a bout 15mm of play which is higher than the tolerance within the Haynes.
good advice about the seating position... will definitely look into that
and yeah, radio on the passenger side, though it is not the original cassette... it is a shan CD player... was looking forward to cracking out the cassette collection as well.

Parked at work. Hate the colour, the split rims, the little handle/spoiler thing, and the way the C-pillar looks, but otherwise a nice reminder of how dinky and curvaceous 911s used to be

As far as I can see the only thing it does differently to a coupe is the class roof slides back, so there's no functional reason for the awkward C-pillar. Apparently it's because they were built on Cab bodies rather than from scratch. [citation needed]
Custom. 😎 #ProjectCars
