Thanks very much for the Freeza recommendation. They arrived today (140mm) and are a work of art. Totally overkill for commuting on but still.....
Hopefully get many 000's of happy miles out of them. Thanks everyone for all of the sound recommendations. Suddenly, disc brakes don't seem so scary any more once you see all the buts coming together.

Another vote for only using Shimano rotors. I have used Avid, Hayes and others, but the Shimano RT-99 Freeza are head and shoulders above the others.
Not overheating the front rotor coming down Honister, Hardknott and Wrynose pass is a testament of how good these are
