Assembling my bike tonight then if all is well with my bike I will take the train from Waterloo. I'm even concerned about the short ride to the station. And icy roads in the country too. I used to live out there and it's really dangerous. Early morning patches of ice on exposed roads ie no trees or banks. Later in the day icy patches in shaded areas where the sun hasn't penetrated. I will make a late decision on whether to go tomorrow....in the morning. My test will be the state of the street outside my house in E Finchley. If it's frosty/slippery I'm out. Broken enough bikes and bones.

That's when my train gets in: will be catching the last train from Waterloo to be in Staines for 08:30.

But...

I've just got home to find my tyres have at last turned up and they don't clear the frame (despite what Condor say), so I'm going to try and borrow something narrower.

Night-before fettling, this is a proper thread now

Well I did only get the frame last weekend.

I should have known: it's been suspiciously straight-forward until this.

Been wanting to do this ride since I read about it 4 years ago - Clubmans write up and pre ride thoughts was somehow captivating. The stars suddenly aligned and now I'll have a go :)
