PX are basically nice to deal with IME, just have a really shaky approach to stocking.
-
• #1728
IME when they fuck up your order, they break all communication and just hope you'll go away if they ignore you long enough.
-
• #1729
They don't seem to have the RS part numbers on them, so most likely outcome is a collection of parts from different model years that don't actually work together.

I don't know that the profit margins on stuff on the PX site are so small.
I found (via a link posted in this forum possibly) an auction site selling loads of shit on behalf of PX recently.
There was light sets that were still on the PX site at around a tenner each going in batches of 10 or 20 for around a tenner on the auction site. Lots of other stuff that on both the PX site and the auction site too.
Would you really auction stuff at a loss when your actively selling it through your webshop? Strikes me as even at 10 or 20 sets for a tenner they were making a profit at auction so margin on the stuff on the site must be pretty good.

It says at the top of their sale section that they've just acquired another company's stock. Does nobody read? Bought for pennies, selling crap for a couple pound. They don't care if it doesn't sell. It's all profit.

They're not doing so great, which is fine by me because they're useless and shit

There's a pair of these in large going for £29 in Oxfam on Goodge St if anyone wants to dash over and grab em before they go. RRP £79.

I reckon that's the cunt of a boss just using brexit as an excuse to 'streamline'.
I bet he voted for it.

• #1735
Haha! Fair enough.
If you decide to sell, first dibs / just drop me a PM etc. -
• #1736
Only reason I'd sell is if they dont get squeezed under my brakes, so yep will PM you if they dont :)

What are people's issues with PBK, out of interest (other than that they presumably use zero-hours staff in their warehouses)? They're occasionally cheaper than elsewhere when they do the 20% codes and I always use them for whey and 'supplements' because they do myprotein stuff but with lower free shipping threshold. They do, however, send a fuck load of emails to sales that aren't really sales and I think everything is priced 10% higher than everywhere else because everyone uses vouchers.
To be honest, they're all a bunch of shitehawks, and chainreaction and wiggle are basically just dictating prices (still, £70 for speedplays...). PX really stick out for me though as being actively dishonest in their pricing.

I bought a kinesis frame from them, it cracked within 6 months and they took AGES to replace it under warranty.
Had to send frameset back to them, they took ages to look at it. I was speaking to kinesis the whole time as well, they told me they'd pre-approved my claim based on my pics of the crack and that they'd asked pbk to send a replacement out as soon as they got the old one back.
Kinesis confirmed they'd sent them the new frame to PBK to send out to me. Pbk, meanwhile, were telling me it hadn't arrived for a good couple of weeks and that the old frame had to go back to kinesis to approve the warranty and so on. When they did finally send the replacement out, they sent it by yodel, who failed to deliver it on the day they said they would.
They were polite and friendly throughout, but utterly useless.

I remember this saga from elsewhere on the forum! Is it that they're not a bike specialist, but a mail order company I wonder? They're owned by the hut group who own all sorts of stuff, so how much of a bike shop they are I'm not sure. That could have led to them having no decent system for problems like yours.

I have previous beef with a purchase directly from The Hut. As you said, it's the usual; non-stop sale emails, sales which aren't really sales, shit customer service.

• #1741
Yeah, I bitched mightily about it on bertocq's kinesis build thread. It could well be the case, I've read other people's complaints online and on twitter about how shit they are with warranties, returns and so on.
I ordered a pair of football boots for my brother for xmas, paid extra for name and flag, got a call saying they couldn't do the flag. Not a major thing, but turned out they were hut group too. Could be a coincidence or they could just all be shit.

Bought a bunch of stuff off them this time last year. Some of it arrived on time and as described. Although for some reason Ultegra pedals didn't come boxed.
Tried to get an Ultegra groupset at the same time, took about a month and I still hadn't received it. Lots of emails saying it would be with me shortly etc etc.
Checked Madison and they had it in stock so I've no idea who their suppliers are. But I eventually cancelled my order. To be fair they refunded me without issue really. But they took payment without having stock clearly. Wouldn't really deal again. -
• #1743
I've just realised that the same thing happened to me. Bought something, then they dicked around until I eventually cancelled the order, at which point they basically shrugged and refunded me. I'd totally forgotten that.
Ok. Adding them to the list. Myprotein deliveries have always been fine through them mind.

These are the rules. Interesting that there seems to be an arbitrary £42 lower limit to qualify...

Yeah I think they might justs be selling stuff they don't have in stock and dick you around until they do. Which sometimes with these things is indefinite.
@Alan_tbt
Looking at the link and clicking through to "Online Selling". It states "After the sale:
You must deliver the goods within 30 days of purchase unless otherwise agreed with the customer."So if you really wanted to be arsey about it you could push for an extra discount/compensation as it's actually the law. Although with these cheaper outlets I reckon they'd refund you and tell you to FO.

Some heavy reductions across a good range of products and sizes on the Vulpine website today. Sorely tempted but too skint at the moment.

Hahah!

I love it when 'guardian reading' is used pejoratively.
Its like the original hipster slur. -

I don't really get the analogy
velodrome shop are fine IMO. Inconsistent yeah but not cunts like PX.
