So road rotors don't have diff cooling requirements from MTB ones? I thought probably not but have always found disc brakes a bit witchcraft-y.

If combined weight on the bike is large i.e 90kg or more I'd consider finned rotors from Shimano with centrelock hubs so you can use 140mm finned but only if you find 160 is too powerful.

Being said weight+, but also being unable to have finned Shimano 140 rear, what is the next best thing?

@gillies, Just fit a 160mm, you'll be fine.
