Another setback/update:
The UK look distributors got back to us and their initial thought of getting a seatclamp asap wasn't the case and if I was to order one it would take 90 days to actually get one...
So I'm going with the initial seatclamp and we are phoning around for a specialist who knows about drilling carbon.

Nightmare.

Day trip to Look HQ? Call around French tracky bike shops? They might be able to get things quicker than the UK distro.
Someone has one of those non drilly seat clamps just over the water?
What a pain though. Is it too late to return it?

I know, going to do this later today.

Just googling around it looks like there was definitely two types of seatclamps used for the l96:
Two holes version:
Updated seatclamp with no holes:

I'm having flashbacks to when I tried to get a set of replacement serrated washers for a Look Ergostem back in 2010.

Two holes one looks much better IMO, plus less frontal area. Good luck!

Who did you contact?

90 days is total BS.
Nevers, France is about 500km from Calais.
Day trip?

That's what the mechanic said, I'm phoning around to see if we can get one sooner.

Day trip?
Make it a weekend and ride there!

If you want someone good if you do decide to drill it: https://londoncarbonrepairs.co.uk/ Although drilling carbon isn't too bad, it just blunts drill bits very very quickly.

"Get 12 stamps and you get a 13th repair for free"

"Ho Ke is one of our returning clients"
I both kinda lol'd and thought it was borderline mean to write that.

So I'm going with the initial seatclamp and we are phoning around for a specialist who knows about drilling carbon.
It's no black art.
Ideally, carbide drill bit (because it'll stay sharp), followed by a reamer because I think those pegs want to be a snug fit. Could be done by hand but since it's going in at a slight angle to the surface it'll be better if they can make a drill guide to clamp onto the post to support the drill bit. Even just on a pillar drill, as long as it's all clamped up nice and square and they take it easy, it'll drill ok. You'll want to go through both sides of the post in one go so that the holes are inline.
I've drilled quite a lot of carbon. As long as the drill is nice and sharp, you can use a high quality jobber drill (from Dormer etc). For those 4 holes it'll be fine.
Make sure you know how far down the post the holes need to be. You don't want them drilled too close to the end.
Check there aren't any bosses bonded onto the other side of the hole (inside the post) to spread the load.

If this fails, and you don't have the stomach for drilling it - which would be understandable - maybe you could get a custom topper made? I believe @coldharbour done quite a few. Worth asking maybe.

I'd do it on my kg176!
Feels like it needs its own thread in the rides section

Personally this is what I'd do. I would be temped to order the seat clamp through the official channels, waiting the ridiculous 90 days and in the meantime look to get something custom made. It is ages to wait but the frame deserves to be 100%, even if it's so you can sleep peacefully at night. Sure you'll get there!

Just punch a hole in the middle of the seat post mast and pass a hose clamp through it to clamp a normal seatpost inside.

I think this job will either go back to look to be properly done.
