that's the one..
over the last week or so, computer slows, whilst opening programs, wouldn't open microsoft word, freezes, whilst playing web pages, all sorts.
I've got loads of RAM so not sure why it's happening, fan isn't blowing hard, don't have massive amounts of applications open, but it just keeps tripping over itself...

Mine's about the same and I've not noticed it slowing the computer down. When you say it's a 5.1, do you mean Mac Pro 5.1? mid 2010 tower unit. I've seen it come and go before, I thought it had something to do with indexing the disk.
