• Kaffenback project is done and I'm very pleased with it so i need a new project for the winter.

This project will be on a super low budget and alot of DIY and welding.

I've looked around for a 90's steel mtb with longer headtube and yesterday i asked my landlord if there where any shitty bikes somewhere in the house i live in and i got this one for free :)

Asahi with double butted cromoly, good enough for this project.

    My plans with the project.

    Dropbars, 1x10 with barend shifter,

DIY racks rear and front with space for tent, sleeping bag and sleeping pad

Rad paint, mounts everywhere, fat tires!

Maybe discbrakes, have not decided yet.

Toptube have a big dent on the frame so i need to replace it, we have a crashed huge daccordi roadbike in the garage with headtube and toptube in good condition.

i really like the look with high headtube and sloping toptube on bikes like this, does anyone know what happens with the handling if i short the frame 2 cm with the same headtube angle as original?

    i think something like this.
