not all tubeless tyres are durable. the hutchinson sector 28 or 32's seem to be as are IRC tubeless tyres (these do silly miles). The only downside to the sectors is the grip when it is wet and cold. Pretty much all the others seem to get cut to shreds if you ride somewhere with lots of sharp flint and other debris.

Aside from my bad luck, marathon supreme are also a good shout. Can be tubeless too.

in a equilibrium disc he will be limited to a 28mm tyre if he wants to run mudguards. A non tubeless tyre can be run tubeless but you are limited to 50 to 60 psi which is o.k but it also a bit soft.

Right, fed up with my Compass tyres getting 12 punctures any time I go near flinty roads - probably going to give these Vittoria Hyper Voyagers a try unless anyone can suggest a better fast-ish 35c tyres that I can have a go at setting up tubeless?

Schwalbe G-One Evolution? 35-622
Oh Schwalbe doesn't state them on their website but Mantel sells 40-622 too

Can Compass Rat Trap Pass tyres take loaded touring?

Toured in Wales on them fully loaded, they were great.

If ordering gravel kings from winstanleys make sure you specify which type you want. Ordered a 32mm file tread got sent the knobblier one (sk I think). Luckily it just squeezes in, so I'll go with it and get another for the front. Towpath here I come.

I have Voyager Hypers (35c) on my cross check and like them alot.
I've just bought some Marathon Supreme microskins (tubeless ready). Waiting for my tubeless ready wheels to arrive and then I can let you know how they compare.

So i'm looking for a front tire with some more grip in sand/gravel/snow, right now i'm running 32c delta cruisers and i've got this amount of space left.
Edit: Not too expensive, i'll only be using it for maybe a month or two max.

Would you say they're fast? Or fast for a touring tyre?
-
• #3963
The latter.
But to be fair, I've only ridden them on the Surly which is quite heavy and set up more for going anywhere and getting there rather than for speed.

Yep, been reading that. If only they'd tested Compass tyres.

I'm in a similar boat, fitted some bon jon pass and got two punctures on the first ride, so went straight back to paselas but would like something a little more sprightly.
They seem like a good compromise to be fair, the hypers that is. -

Fuck it, ordered. I'll be a guinea pig.
Do love the Compass tyres and they had proven to be very tough, but in two rides in the Chilterns I've had 4 punctures.

You should be able to fit a schwalbe cx pro. It's a mud tire so will do well in snow.

For anyone wanting Voyager Hypers but not wanting to order from Planet X - Wiggle price matched a pair for me so they are just under £30 together (Planet X price + shipping cost).

Further tip for the Voyager Hypers: they seem to have a fair amount of greasy mold release compound on them when new, so can be slippy on wet roads for a 100 miles or so. Alternatively you could try scrubbing them thoroughly with e.g. meths or Muck Off. Once 'scrubbed in' they grip wet tarmac very well indeed.

My compass survived touring and Audax, latter in the UK.

Ooh, interesting - had a couple of dodgy moments with mine in the wet when they were new which spooked me, and so have been riding very carefully in the wet with them ever since just in case, perhaps I can be slightly less careful!

putting them on for Amsterdam to Istanbul
Ohhhhhh, for the route for this that you can share?!?
Cheers Ed, stays splay out, not hour glassed round the tyre. Just checkin out my options at the moment.
