  • Yes, that's a good shout.

I last rode this journey a couple of years ago and at that time I did experiment with a route through Battersea Park. Will head that way tomorrow.

  • Me too. Although punctured in my flat while pumping up tyres - rim tape gone? Stole a wheel from my sister's bike to get in. Nice ride once I got going though.

  • Fucking hairy morning out there, had 3 out right, this Cunts trying to kill me style over takes this morning. One was so bad I had to stop to gather my composure.

Its happen a few times since Christmas on the same semi country rat run type road and I'm sure it's the same cars each time. It would be extremely unfortunate if some six inch nails accidental scattering out of a bag, perhaps it could be seen as indiscriminate pay back to motorists in general.

Who knows it might persuade these cunts back towards using the dual carriage they more than likely should be on, along with all the other arseholes trying to kill each other in their 2 ton metal boxes.

  • Cuntbaggery of the scale this week. Some twat came down the opposite lane and smashed into my arm whilst i waited at the blackfriars junction tailback, clearly decided what he was doing wasn't a dick move. There's a lot more cyclists on the road but i'm not really seeing any issues with wobblers and newbies, mostly bellends testing their christmas bonus upgrades.

  • mostly bellends testing their christmas bonus upgrades.

Yep. 3 little moments this morning, all caused by relatively experienced cyclists being dicks. Just calm down, we're all going to get there in the end.

  • Managed to get from Lea Bridge Station to Old Street without coming to a halt once, that's pretty much the whole London Borough of Hackney traversed without taking a foot out of a toe clip. Four and a half miles!

Now I'm a boring old stickler for never RLJing, never buzzing peds, always abiding by highway code rule 170, etc etc, so this is even more of a feat.

Sheer luck for the most part of course, but I think it's also testament to the work Hackney (or is it TfL?) have been doing on the quietway routes which means a few busy road junctions can be neatly avoided.

  • I lived in Walthamstow for three years and managed that same feat precisely once. That was going along Lea Bridge Road, right at Clapton down to Hackney Downs and then Queensbridge Road. Something like 19mph avg for 7 miles. As with yours, no RLJing or being a dick, just an improbably clear ride with few cars and loads of green lights.

  • Take primary and/or get camera.

  • Went to Brixton Cycles to get a tube and a mudflap this morning, first time being in the new shop. I think it's the best bike shop I've ever been in.

I didn't enjoy the CS2 into the City though. It made me appreciate my backway approach from Peckham and through Burgess Park.

  • Hopefully to swing by the shop tonight to collect my FKW set.

Definitely a struggle to get in this morning, hangover and riding into a headwind is never pretty. Also this evening's weather report look dreadful, might invest into some speedos and skis to power through London...

    7/10

  • whatever you do just make sure to buy the speedos. fingers crossed my instagram feed hawts the fuck up ;)

  • Saw some guy riding a mtb with aero extensions on Regents St. Is this a new sport, tri-mtb, mtb-tt? Guy rode like a cunt too.

  • I know you lot think it was me but it wasn't so fuck off. :P

I did ride my first double boinger yesterday though. Need a shock pump since I seem to be too fat for it.

What's with all the cars driving around with no lights and all the bikes with dull as fuck lights?

  • Well that was a delight - thought Monday's craziness would take a while to be beaten but 2x cars trying to drive down cycle superhighways tonight, one of which was a taxi driver who got out to try and assault a cyclist who'd kicked his cab.

    Stay stay folks

  • That was fun! Snow/10

  • Just made it home, was a blast. Tomorrow morning should be interesting. Keep safe everyone.

  • That was horrendous.

  • So cold. Almost couldn't open the front door.

Question. Both tonight and on the way home after the tube strike I've found my handle bars and gloves so sodden my hands have been slipping on my handlebars quite a bit in all the liquid. I've never felt the need to spend more than a few quid on bar tape before so I've got cheap grip. It's camo though so teenage boys walk past saying shit like "Fam! You see that guys handlebars? They're fire!" I'm all about appealing to the youth of today... I've got some lovely Rapha gloves which I love to bits and work really well. Would spending more on better tape actually eradicate the slipperyness or is it just a thing to deal with?

  • Get yourself some Lizardskins and wrap your bars tightly, you won't have any issues with grip

  • Glove fail. Hands so cold my other half had to peel them off me when I got home. Queue hands warming too fast and me jumping round the house swearing in agony.
Still it's settling a treat in Richmond Park.

  • Two offs on the motorbike on the way home. Crushed brake foot lever meaning it's stranded too.

    Not ideal.

  • Glad I took the bus. BBC weather got it right for once.
    7/10 would ride again.

  • Hands so cold my other half had to peel them off me when I got home.

    wut

  • Cheers man. You reckon there's actually a noticeable difference? I might just have worked out my payday treat for myself at the end of the month then...

  • Currently sitting here with jumper fleece jacket hat socks. Thermal socks on.

It was brutal all 15 of my 20miles home.

And to the fuxking nutters who were in shorts..

    Snow/10
