Early days but I might hire another mini-van and have space for 8 or 9 and their bikes.
Last year we had a BBQ breakfast and beers waiting for people. The only thing I regret is not having enough fire which I am sure can be rectified.

I really want to do this this year. Need to get out and ride a bit, as mostly am just a commutenger at present.

Highest part of the ride is Epping, if you can ride to Epping you've made it as its all downhill from there.

Its a pretty easy ride to do on a low level of fitness, especially now with food options all the way through the night

Yet again I find myself tempted. I have done it a few times since 2005 and each time I think it is less fun than the previous year. However, it might work alongside a visit to a cousin in Sudbury this year. Maybe London - Dunwich -Sudbury would make it a different experience.

I found it surprisingly nice last year. Left at 9:30 ish, and basically didn't see anyone till the other side of Epping, and even then never the crazy crowds that you usually see

Unclear whether you mean DD as a nice bit of getting out and riding, or if you think you need to get out and ride before doing it, but for reference it was my only long ride last year, one other of around 30 miles and I could probably count on two hands the number of commutes... If you don't feel the need to smash it it's fine (I may have been lulled into a false sense of confidence but I'm planning similar this year... )

Meh. Youll be fine. Just drink plenty of beer for energy.

I'm intending to do some training...
Doing it wrong.

@Scilly.Suffolk agreed I suppose I mean some long rides to know what to expect, I'd hate to be the fat sweaty guy who can't finish @Hefty it's what I've doing up to now so let's hope your right.

Another year, another plan to do the dynamo fixed. Maybe this is the year that I won't have been broken by something else and reduced to riding the road bike at dynamo time.

Changes every year. Weather. Numbers. Riders. It's always rideable for any cyclist. Just adjust pace and remember to eat and drink. You will not regret doing this. And you will never be alone. In.

I'm in the same boat as you only commuting miles, about 100 a week so I've no idea what 120 in one stint is like. I'm intending to do some training over the coming months though and try and get some long (for me) rides in beforehand.
That's fine.
You'll be able to do it without an issue, probably faster than you realise.
Just make sure you take enough food and water... you don't need to go nuts, and you can top up water at a few points, but the only thing that will be a risk to you making this distance easily is bonking 2/3 of the way in because you didn't eat and drink enough.
Beer helps at the beginning, and flapjacks and other things stuffed in pockets will do you good.

I think it's a 'must do' if you never have....the hardest part is between sort of 2-3.30 am, when hallucinations sometimes happen!
As above, good fuel, a nice mix of sweet and savoury stuff, and plenty of fluids.
Guinness and cider mainly. -

Definitely up for this, been thinking about doing it for the past couple of years.
