I recently got a Garmin (a 64S.) It's bloody complicated but I'm beginning to figure it out. They're quite clever little gadgets and the reception in the wilderness is FAR superior to the GPS on phones. Feels a lot more durable for strapping to bikes too.
Fuck knows how the Dakar / Baja boys read them when they're hooning along at 100mph though.

I rate the TomTom 4 or 5 of 5 stars. But it's a device not just software. Worth it for me and my partner. Phone can stay in the pocket, navi is done by a specialist gadget.
