Interesting, have dropped TRP an email. Hold that thought about the levers!

Mine is black from Cotic and I purchased it separately. It looks very similar to the DT Swiss in style.

The stock pads that come with the Spyres, any good? If not, reasonably priced recommendations?
-
• #2955
They're okay, but aren't the most durable. I'd use them until they need replacing, rather than replacing them for the sake of it.

Just replaced when it worn out.

Superstar Kevlar
The stock ones are better than they used to be but still a bit cheesy. They bite though so just keep an eye on them and when they are done replace.

Just had a fiddle of my front brake. For anyone trying to get more power out of spyres, this is 100% the answer, brake is infinitely better. If they rattle loose I'll look into taking the pistons out and applying grip paste

Next question - can I get ice tech 6bolt rotors in 140mm? I can't see them anywhere, suspect they only come in CL for that size.

http://productinfo.shimano.com/#/spec/2.3/GENERAL/Disc%20Rotor
None of Shimano's 6-bolt rotors are smaller than 160mm. SM-RT86 is the only 6-bolt rotor with Ice Tech.
If you want the Freeza fins inboard of the braking surface, That's only on SM-RT99, SM-RT99-A and SM-RT900. Looking at pics of a 6-bolt 160mm RT86, you wouldn't get much useful surface area and the brake mount part of the hub would ruin airflow on the inboard side anyway.

thanks, as i suspected. What 6bolt 140mm rotor should i be going for then?
-

In my experience, whichever you can find. They are hard to find. I've got SRAM ones.

All fixed now. Thanks hive mind. I think the problem was the bleed nipple was blocked, opened the port right up and fluid started coming out.

Holy shit my brakes scream when it rains!
I now have another set of disc brakes to deal with on the Kona A I bought. One is Hope, the other is Shimano. The rear, Hope doesn't work so well, the Shimano as expected works like Shimano.

is it weird to have shimano front, sram rear?
-
• #2969
Possibly whatever down to whatever they're gritting the roads with?
I've been removing pads and thoroughly cleaning with muc-off disc cleaner then using the same to clean the rotors. Gets me another few wet days London commuting without the screaming.
I'm using stock Shimano pads in RS785 calipers. Have read that lightly sanding the pad surface can rejuvenate them if they've developed a hard glazed surface. I'll be trying that next.

What, rotors? Nope.

That's what I've got. CL 160mm Shimano something or other and 140mm Avid HSX CL rear. Both work fine. Getting a new set of wheels with 6 bolt so I've bought some cheapo rotors for now, will see how bad they are and look for something better if they're really bad.

I have a flatmount front caliper (BR505) I want to sell - never used disc brakes before so before I sell it, can someone let me know
- Which caliper is for the fork?
- Which packet(s) do I need to include with the sale?
many thanks...

- Which caliper is for the fork?

My guess is the one with the adapter plate on it & one red packet (pads) and one yellow (fittings).
Keep the red packet if you are feeling stingy and want a spare pair of pads.

Getting a new bike with Shimano RS-805 brakes. For a second set of wheels, will any 160mm rotors work (eg TRP) or are there cross-compatibility issues? Should I stick with centrelock or go 6 bolt or doesn't it matter?
Ta.
Ive seen people use hylex levers with shimano calipers, so yes probably
I might be interested in the hylex levers if you'll sell?
