I lived in Walthamstow for three years and managed that same feat precisely once. That was going along Lea Bridge Road, right at Clapton down to Hackney Downs and then Queensbridge Road. Something like 19mph avg for 7 miles. As with yours, no RLJing or being a dick, just an improbably clear ride with few cars and loads of green lights.
Managed to get from Lea Bridge Station to Old Street without coming to a halt once, that's pretty much the whole London Borough of Hackney traversed without taking a foot out of a toe clip. Four and a half miles!
Now I'm a boring old stickler for never RLJing, never buzzing peds, always abiding by highway code rule 170, etc etc, so this is even more of a feat.
Sheer luck for the most part of course, but I think it's also testament to the work Hackney (or is it TfL?) have been doing on the quietway routes which means a few busy road junctions can be neatly avoided.
