I'll email him tonight.

So we have found the issue with the seatclamp, apparently this seat tube has been cut at some point in its life and with the current seatclamp it would require two holes drilled to attach the current seatclamp:

However, this doesn't give my flexiblity in terms of if someone else is either shorter or taller to amend the seatclamp, so look has a revised seatclamp which ommits the two hole in the seat tube and attaches to the frame in a 'conventional' way, I've order this and hopefully with this the look should be ready by the end of the week...(one hopes):

Did the seller not think to mention this? Has he explained how he was riding around on it without this vital part?
-
• #1206
He was selling for his friend, tbh, with this frame if I am going to keep it forever, then probably the first option would be more ideal, but the thought of drilling into the look frame is a step to far for me and the mechanic...

Thought it was going to turn out to be a Chinese fake. Glad you're getting it sorted. Would still be having a word with the seller, you thought you were buying a pristine frame and it turns out it's been cut!

I have, I guess this is what happens at times when you buy second hand. Though it baffles me with this seatpost. Oh well onwards and upwards.
-
• #1209
It's an ISP frame; if it's been ridden of course it's been cut.
-
• #1211
Did you get a cutting guide with the frame?
-
• #1212
Yes, a piece of paper saying;
"Mesurer deux fois, couper une fois".
-
• #1214
You don't say. Its been cut and not drilled for the appropriate seat post and therefore unusable in its current state so not on.
@SeƱor_Bear reading between the lines but I'm sure if Ho was told the current seatpost wouldn't work because its been cut then he would have had it sorted from the start.apparently this seat tube has been cut at some point in its life
Tells me he wasn't told by the seller.
Man you guys are pedants -
• #1215
Nope, he definitely said it was used, though just figuring how now with that seatclamp attachment or non attachment.
-
• #1216
Nope, though if I knew this was going to happen then I would have asked.
-
• #1217
Glad this is getting sorted and don't blame you for holding onto it probably forever. Couldn't handle the pressure of an ISP, especially on such a frame. Forget 'twice', should be measure 100 times cut once.
-
• #1218
Indeed, though the process of this seatpost cut to reattach the seatclamp is so confusing.
-
• #1219
Meh, don't worry, it is what it is, at least there is light at the end of the tunnel and will be riding it soon.

• #1220
Haha, true dat.

2nd hand look tracks and seat clamp sketchyness seems the norm

Seems extra bad with looks tried to buy a 296 and 496 in the last year but had to pass over missing seatclamp hardware. Sticking to less fickle stuff for now

Not to late to swap it for the FES for sale on pedalroom...
Did you asked the guy about the missing part?
