Killed how? Trashed bearings?
Yup. Awful lot of play.
Though I must admit I rode in shitty conditions (several days of typhoon rain), the hub went under water one or two times, and I jumped my fair share of curbs.
I should send to hub back to SP to have the bearings changed (they offer the service for about 40 quids), but I don't have a spare wheel.
From Shutter Precision's own website:
"The resulting thinner bearing races as well as smaller individual ball bearings together that the 8X is, by design, incapable of matching the durability of our 8 Series dynamo hubs.
[...]In theory, 15mm suspensions forks together with the QR15 thru axle should be stronger than standard. However, the mechanical design limitations outlined above mean that the 8X Series dynamo hub will be less durable in practice than the 8 Series hubs.
In short, where durability is more important than performance, we recommend 8 Series dynamo hubs."

I'm not sure what qualifies as "severe conditions applications" but I killed my QR-model SP8 in approximately 17000 km ; I don't find reassuring the fact that it is supposed to be the more durable model...
