  • Last bit^ was @not4sale. Of course that sort of badbwoy type behaviour on buses is usually selfish and a 'dick move' (as is jamming doors on tubes to let your mates catch the train) and I was just being flippant with stevo_com, but once you get properly stuck on buses in gridlock, the drivers should start letting people off at other stops if they ask. Anything else is just bloodyminded jobsworthery, and letting yourself off IS totally understandable.

  • letting yourself off IS totally understandable

I'm not sure that 'letting yourself off' on the bus or whatever the kids are calling it nowadays is ever understadable.

  • I always cycle

I know - I was being flippant too

How about bloodyminded jobsworthery when a bus driver is under ( H & S ?) instructions not to allow a passenger onto his bus when stationary in gridlocked traffic or 5 yards from the bus stop he has just left but sat at traffic lights ?

    Yeah

  • Got home safely. May need therapy.

  • here's a bit of therapy -
Left about 9.30 to do a bit of shopping. Madness. There must have been ten people at the bus stop just down the road - you know, the one outside Stewart Lee's house - and I had to move slightly to one side to get past them.
There was no one in the greengrocers and Whole Food Market was deserted. Like something from a Hollywood movie. Back outside there were at least another ten people at the bus stop on Stamford Hill and getting past again required nifty footwork.
There was a strange air of fear and paranoia in Morrisons and the same in Sainsbury's. I was glad to get back home. I tried to nap but it wasn't easy, thinking about the carnage and anger out there. I dropped off eventually and had some samosas when I woke up.

  • Grid lock on Lambeth and Vauxhall Bridges. Queues for miles on end. Not a good day for pollution levels.
Tube passengers who jumped on a Boris bike today must think that regular cyclists are totally mad.

  • Amen to this! The embankment stretch was fully of tossers this morning and evening!

  • All lights were red on the way home. All of them. And all of the motorised vehicles were in the way.

Need a better route Clapham Jn -> Walthamstow. Waiting at 50 sets of lights can >>>>>>

  • Evening rain and heavy traffic on the commute home. No-one told me there was a race on the CS7 from Kennington to Clapham South! So hoping the incoming cold spell will reduce the numbers somewhat.

  • train and a bus. home in 40 mins suckaz

  • Went to the pub for a couple of hours. Missed the rain, the worst of the madness and presumably most of the fun.

    Average/10

  • Oh sorry irony fail in assuming you missed irony...

  • What route do you do atm?

  • I know it's strange but I miss everyone walking above ground on London roads this morning, the city just feels a little empty.

But there definitely is a rise of cyclist commuting this morning, I might actually take a different route into work to get away from so many cyclist, even though it might take a little longer, the cs3 IMO getting a little sketchy with cat5 racers and commuters someone is bond to get hurt.

    Anyways back to the norm.

    7/10

  • Punctured. Pulled out spare tube to find it was a Schrader valve, despite the fact that I've not owned a Schrader wheel for 5 years. Fuckity do - luckily I was riding in with someone and a 28c tube stretched to 35mm.

    Otherwise very pleasant 8/10.

  • Last night I went roughly:

St John's Hill, Lavender Hill etc (A3036) to Vauxhall, then Albert Embankment to York Rd, Stamford St A3200 to London Bridge, A10 north as far as Bethnal Green Road, then to Cambridge Heath Rd -> Mare St and eventually Lower Clapton Rd -> Lea Bridge Rd.

I think my main aim is avoid A3036 -> A3200 and then avoid London Bridge -> A10.

  • my main aim is avoid A3036 -> A3200 and then avoid London Bridge -> A10.

    #lifegoals

  • For the first bit, I'd head from Clap J to Battersea park. Enjoy the ambience before heading out across Chelsea Bridge and then along the embankment all the way to London Bridge. Many less lights and some nice sights. After that you're into "therebedragons" land for me. Good luck.

  • to the bellend who thought it was wise to walk backwards into the cycle path at the top end of royal college street this morning: thanks for wearing that oversized rucksack, it cushioned the impact nicely.

  • Oh ok...im going from Croydon to Edmonton Green. the A10 is fine after liverpool street. London Bridge is a nightmare.

Went via Blackfriars - Finsbury Park this morning.

you could alternatively head towards regents park/camdem to avoid blackfriars or head down from vauxhall to constitution hill into waterloo (bit slow i reckon) up to strand or holborn to upper st and take the A107

  • Still a fair few resolutionists out there today. Let's see how many make it to Friday.

In other news, the goose crap coating my legs this morning seemed to be a paler shade of green. Any ornithologist LFGSSers out there able to shed some light on this?

  • Last night I foolishly left right before it was due to start raining, thinking it wouldn't be all that bad. I had to wring out my trousers/shoes/socks and towel myself dry upon returning home. These items remain wet even now.
