  • Someone sell cruise control to me, isn't it the most pointless lazy feature ever? Apart from the button that electronically opens and closes the centre console storage cubby in the DB11

  • There's a 16 mile long 50mph zone of average speed cameras on the M1 at the moment. Has been between 25 miles and 16 miles long for the last three years (and still has 6 months to go) whilst they install "smart motorway" things.

Setting it to 55mph and not having to worry about a ticket is lovely.

  • Good point! Also, wtf smart motorway wtf

  • I find the "limit" function on my 5 series far more useful for them - as most other people can't hold a steady speed / don't use CC. Set the limit to 55 and then you can use the accelerator to keep a steady distance but without being able to exceed the limit :)

CC comes into its own on big empty motorways - so not much use in the UK. Great for driving across France though :)

  • To be fair, i use the limiter (also BMW) far more than the cc but i have radar brake function on cc so it maintains a speed based on the car in front. so still has a use though it's a bit abrupt when people cut in front.

  • Had a blast from the past this weekend, lost my main key so had to use the one without a battery in the fob, which meant opening the door manually by inserting the key into a slot in the door and turning it to unlock the door (weird!), then the alarm went off, forgot you had to put the key in the ignition to disarm the alarm! :O

  • I WISH there was a function on youtube where I could block certain users so I never see their video thumbnails ever again, this generation of 23 year old cunts who are somehow driving around in a new RS6, do videos of them picking up their 675LT and pondering whether to sell the R8 and they're on the list for a Ford GT, "ignore them!" I hear you say, but I can't, I can't, even just seeing their name on youtube gets my humours up, fook the pound comrade!

  • One of them, with an LS2 in it, decent aircon and a retrimmed interior. I would like that. A lot. Albeit without the stupid suspension lowering. And I'd probably change the daft wheels.

  • Well then you would look like a wolf in sheep's clothing. :O)

  • Well, I do have a bit of a Q car thing. It worked quite nicely over Christmas. My father was very surprised by his short trip in the Superfastwankerbarge, which I think he thought was going to be much like his Volvo 850 D5.

  • Did he hold on? 😬

  • He didn't really have time. He asked what speed we'd got up to during our little warple down the straight, I said about 110, he said he'd never been at more than 100 in a car before and then went very quiet. I think he liked it.

  • All those birthdays when the wrong present appeared ay...

Looks like Wossi got it a bit rong too...

  • Naaaaaah I bet they're fucking brilliant for the 90% of people who haven't been jaded by a string of Porsches!

  • You get 2 days of enjoyment from an Aston Martin. The day you buy it and...

  • Marvellous. I whizzed my mum (at age 64 or so) up to 140 once during a brief pillion ride on my motorbike. Similarly, she was a bit quiet immediately after but was quite keen to have another go.

I looooove my cruise control. Even somewhere relatively close like San Francisco would be an epic bore without it. Once you're out of town, you can sit on the interstate for hours. I saw a guy in a Tesla watching his Ipad not long back, fully hands off.

  • Modern cruise control are amazing, the BMW's own actually automatically change speed, slow down when there's a car in front of you, and accelerate when needed.

It's extremely useful if you do massively long trip.

Even so, they used it a lots in town right down to coming to a full stop.

  • Usually can overtake 80% of people by setting cruise to 58mph, while doing an actual 55mph. The other 20% are those people who don't give a shit, don't understand what averages are or are Rangy/X6/X5/Q12 cunts.

  • It's easy to be jaded by Porsches, because at the end of the day they are fucking dull unless you drive like a cunt

  • Any of you know if this style of wing ever came stock on bug eyed imprezas?

I can confirm that this is also true at other times of day.

Porsches -ignoring the special derivatives - drive like shopping cars round town and the interiors are shit. If you want a sense of occasion every time you get in you'll need something else.

  • Found a picture, makes me happy.

This is like my ultimate guilty pleasure car.

  • Nice drying rack.

  • I have my E30 318 {3.5} insured with Brentacre they calculate the premium more on BHP per tonne than the mods but I have listed them all to them, also I can carry out more mods so long as I let them know.

M.O.T wise [I am a tester] the rules for emissions are that you test it to the spec of the oldest part so a 1990 car with a 2000 engine would still be tested to 1990 spec, conversely a 1990 car with a 1985 engine would be tested to 1985 emissions spec so long as you have documents to back it up obviously.
