No swish guards this year at least. It's for touring, crashing and fucking around on so posh guards wouldn't last 10mins.
Would like black hammered ones tho..
Maybe if everyone buys all the quality goods I'm selling at the mo.... -

Have been sourcing parts for a purple Vitus 979 "neo-retro" sunday best project but due to house move things have been very slow.
Have a DA7400 post, stem and headset. Planning on a Nitto compact drop and DA9000 everything else.
To get things going want to start building the wheels, where I need the forum hivemind advice. Was thinking sliver Bitex RAR/F12 20/24, silver CXray spokes and low-ish chinese crabon. Undecided about height and if I should go the carbon path all together.

this could be my find of the year... (didn't find it in this state but couldn't wait building it up): a 1983 Eddy Merckx Professional.

Is that a bike that you can ride long distances on? Thomson inline and slammed stem sounds like a sore back and sore wrists/hands after a few miles.
I'm fitting a 11-42 XT cassette and a Rival 1 rear mech on my CAAD10 to go Gnarmac/ish and my stack is all tour right now but that looks ace.
Also @edscoble do you know any budget gnarmac wheelset that could handle a 20 stone guy and 15kg of gear and some good tyres in 25mm that could take some gravel punishment?

Nice! Where from and what?

My old boss and a couple of colleagues helped develop the composites on the Lotus bike. It was a big step up in aerodynamics but they all said it was quite flexible.
2x2 carbon has a modulus of about 120 while something like 6061 has a modulus of 69 (according to Wikipedia). The section of that Fork Seatpost Clamp Included High Quality 700C Alloy Track Bicycle Frame Set Cycling Fixed Gear Bike Frame is quite small so it would have to be chuffing thick to make it stiff!

I managed 1000k of touring on it this summer, no aches or pains as of yet :)
Wheels are some sort of fake zipp, pretty wife and covered in dimples

It would, far more than thick enough to use more material than would be needed to form a down tube :)

wondering if one of these
would go nicely with my nice titanium frame.
Too much?

Given the increasingly limited 25.4 stems, any suggestions on 31.8 risers similar to nitto b260aa risers? I find them really comfortable!

For 1-1/8" Threadless? Hubjub's unbranded (EDIT: Zenith Classic Road) silver stem is available in 25.4mm (7deg, and a range of lengths), is cheap, and very good quality.
It's also visually identical to the Nitto UI range of stems - only difference is the lack of screen print branding and the length in cm stamped on the Nitto ones, suggesting they come from the same factory (Nitto maybe buy them in from Taiwan, stamp and brand them up).
@edmundro LHT is shaping up nicely! Deserves some swish mudguards and flaps imo though
