It's so good! I was astonished at the quality of the force feedback and the realism.
The only disappointment was how bad I was, it's really hard compared to real life. I was shit on the brakes, turning in too late, trying to turn in doing about 20mph faster than I should have been, although I did manage Brands Hatch Indy faster than I've ever done in real life, my lines were horrendous.
Racing driver excuses: I couldn't see distance as well as I can in real life, I think more time with the VR headset is needed to get used to it, so sighting apexes is really hard. Also picking out braking points is harder than real life, I use things like tyre marks or tarmac changes as braking points and they're not quite visual enough on VR.
Hilarious moment was on Nordschleife, insitinctively checking my mirrors before moving over after the bridge and then periodically checking my mirrors for traffic on the lap. It's so realistic!
935 race car was insane. @Brun saved the best for last, turbo lag and then just constant sideways.
The setup favours the "theory" driver, one who predicts all actions and re-actions rather than the "feel" driver who responds to G forces and sound. I think a headset with the volume turned up loud would be even better so you can hear what the engine and tyres are doing.
Pretend Nordschleife verified by @NurseHolliday as pretty legit.
Despite the lack of g-forces or smell of petrol I think the whole thing made a good impression on him. If anyone else fancies checking it out they're very welcome.
