An update to my previous post..
I have been in contacted, via email, with the pedestrian who knocked me off my bike. He is sending me a cheque to cover the cost of the replacement helmet and my loss of two days wages.
Pedestrians may or may not have to observe light controls but they still have a duty of care to other road users.
