Yes, you're right, the last one he used must be a Most (Pinarello inhouse brand) prototype, based on the Vision Metron 5D as he was using them in Rio 2016 as we can see on this picture.

That front fork...why?
Is there some "stiffness" contest going on? I can't see any reason for that much re-inforcement? :)

• #41312
Its not stiff, quite the revserse its bouncy!

dat frok doe... halfords build?

Ahah spring on there, instead of somewhere else.
Ugly but not a bad idea, MTB forks usually need maintenance and this cuts that out.

I've heard an issue with these is that they also bend side to side a bit too (as well as up and down) so they make the steering feel really sloppy

Oooh yes do not want. If the idea works it may be nice though :)
These days most bicycles seem to have much more than 60mm travel for reasons I don't understand cos I don't MTB (yet, building up a 1999 Cannondale F1000 but elastomer is gone, waiting for replacement and yes it only has 60mm travel)

They are a good choice for washboard roads - small travel, but very responsive. Think long races such as tour divide etc.

Someone in Norwich has pretty much that idea, a Stanton Sherpa built up with a Lauf fork, Alfine Did, dirt drops. Srs adventure machine

Bollocks, you're right. Dunno why I was thinking they were part of the Shimano group.
That said, I've just double checked, and those aren't Vision/FSA bars; most likely custom made ones looking at the odd placing of those steerer bolts.
