Columbus, Fully Chromed, Copper Cromovelato, F & F

Posted on
    1. 1980s 54cm Columbus frame and forks Unknown brand ("Sorrento"?), but
      Italian made
    2. Comes with brand new Tange 1" headset (chrome, not
featured in pics) and original Ofmega square BB (in excellent
      condition)
    3. Copper cromovelato paintwork - needs redoing or taking
      back to the chrome
    4. Some (minor) rust spotting on chrome - typical of
      age
    5. It may look like there are scratches on the frame but this is
where the cromovelato paintwork has come off (quite common occurrence)

£150 ONO (pick up only - SW London).

  • Frame could be a Biemmezeta (BMZ). GLWS

  • @Olly398 thanks. The remaining decals say "Sorrento" but I do agree that other BMZ's have a similar paintwork

  • PRICE DROP - £140 ONO (pick up only - SW London).

  • Very nice

  • Dam pick up only

  • @Wadi2 where are you based? pick up is easier for me, but happy to be flexible on this.

  • Hi @marksywhatwhat , I'm based in London and interested but £140 is a bit of a stretch. Think you could come down a little more? thanks!

  • @WMaxA PM me your offer

  • lovely

  • Price Drop - £130 ONO (pick up SW London)

  • Campy ends ?

  • @The.Gren - Yes - they have been drilled (not by me!)

  • I believe the drillings (especially the extra one on the top and the one just above the hanger) is for a campy proprietary system (special gear lever and an ear like contraption which sits on the inside of the dropout) for ease of wheel removal.

  • @coventry_eagle thanks for the insight. I always thought they were just done to save some weight!

  • It's called Portacatena and details can be found here:

    http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/components/portacatena-comp.html

  • Hi there, I like the "ratty" look (soz). what's the width on rear drop outs? I.e. Is it 130mm so will take later 9speed?

  • rat de luxe

  • @pakchoi hi it's 126mm. However, believe that sheldon brown said that you could fit a 130 hub quite comfortabley in a 126mm space. Quite common when the number of speeds increased in the 80s.

  • Okay, thanks, my situation has changed now so I'm out, sorry

  • Considering putting this on ebay - last chance for any interest
