LFGSS survives by donations

My mistake: I thought my subscription was more recent.

Verified mine as well, still going little by little every month.

I was notified that the last payment was made as well. Not sure why.

The automatic thing may in fact be broken then.

Have you gotten anywhere with this?

Oh Lord no. I was in the SF sunning it up and watching the US election go down.

I have set aside time this week to investigate the horrors of PayPal.

I got an email yesterday saying PayPal had suspended my automatic payments?

It will do that if payment method fails repeatedly. i.e. no funds, and the back-up funding source didn't work (if bank transfer, does the direct debit still exist etc?).

It's a signal to check your PayPal, make sure it's good, and then cancel and recreate any automatic payments you may have.

Ah, that was my initial suspicion, but the wording of the email made me think it was something at your end so just wanted to check.

Think it might be a hangover from having my card cancelled, but I think you should still be getting a monthly donation from another email account from me...

Unfortunately I've had to cancel mine: work is scarce at the moment.

No doubt things will pick-up in the new year and I'll reinstate it.

No worries, that's how it goes.

Also... this is the reason small amounts from many people works better than a few people with larger donations... it makes the site finances pretty resilient :)

Trying again to set up a monthly donation, I tick the box for this, approve everything and then check the account overview for preapproved payments/subscriptions but it doesn't show there. Wtf iz problemz?

Looks like mine has gone through although I did get a Paypal message dated 1 Jan 1970 which was nice !

just tried to do the same on the 'pre-approved payments' page on PayPal but couldn't see how to change the amount.. did you have to cancel it and then start again with a higher amount?

Yeah... use the link in the first page to find the preapproved payment so that you can cancel it. Then use the other link in the first page of this thread to create a new one.

Cut mine ages ago when I lost my old job, realised it's been ages since I worried about work/money so put back on a monthly thing and made a one off donation too.
