Cut the bars in the middle. Hide the join in the stem clamp.
Convenience > teeth.

Does the shifter have a bolt to tighten it to the bars? If so you could do the coin trick to open it up a bit...

Don't know if it holds true for Revoshift, but back in the bad old days of early Gripshift it was common practice to disassemble the shifter to get it round bends in bars.
(Edit: and then chuck the fucker in the bin)

Yae Fizzy it does. Its encased in plastic and doesn't open up much. Even undone it does nothing to reduce the length of the thing.

those are shit bars in a nutshell. if you take that massive spacer off you'll find they are in two parts. splits in the straight section where the clamp is.

Indeed. Job done and this is how it looks:

Might be ok with a steel bar but ally? No way.

best thing to do is bin them and put some mountain bike risers on.
I converted one of those heaps for a friend to make in to a commuter thing. a decent enough set of wheels, bmx levers and grips and risers it was actually quite nice to ride for a super budget commuter ride

I was completely joking! That's terrifying.

Not that terrifying if done properly:

Looks like a roundabout way to solve a non-problem. Co-Motion and Gilles Bertoud already make a Rohloff shifter for drop bars, and there's the SRAM modification. Rohloff could always design their own drop bar shifter rather than promote this rather inelegant solution.

Correct, it's an old article and pre-date the aftermarket shifters and gebla. They were structurally OK in use though and I never felt they would fail in any way.
Gebla/sram is the best bet for drop bar rohloff by a long chalk. -

"Gebla/sram is the best bet for drop bar rohloff by a long chalk."
It is, except that you can't tell what gear you are in.

Forget the numbers. The correct gear is the one that feels correct.
Cos i need to get it off!
A twist grip at the top of the drop bars. I have had the tape and brake lever off so the shifter is bare on the bars but the plastic barrel that forms the body of the shifter seems to be too long to get round the bend. I can't believe that on a budget bike they dismantled the shifter to get it on there.
