I've got a specialized sequoia (base model) which has 12mm through axles and takes mudguards....for £1500, you'd get the next model up, so steel frame, carbon fork and better groupset....I really like mine!
The best part is that the gearing is spot on for gravel/mountain.
36t cassette and 32t chainring is plentiful when the going get tough.
