  • Just realised my harness and rope are from 2008... That came around fast.
They've only seen light use (once a month on average across their lifetime, at a push), still look pretty clean with no fraying etc and have been stored properly.

The rope is fine, its a 10.5mm Beal Top Gun, but a lot of manufacturers say harnesses should be replaced every 7 years, even if lightly used. I inspect it closely every time and it looks all good.

With occasional use and proper care, the lifespan of a
Black Diamond harness is 5-8 years. With frequent use and proper care, the
lifespan of a Black Diamond harness is 2-5 years. The maximum shelf life is 10
years from the date of manufacture.

    Should I replace the harness?
