Loads of eaton mini superchargers on eBay, twin charge the Volvo

Just trying to work out the pipework for that is giving me a headache.
-
• #31904
Your engine bay definitely doesn't have the space for that.
-
• #31905
But does it have the time? *cough*
-
• #31906
Is the supercharger just there to remove turbo lag in twin charger systems by getting the trubo spinning at low rpm?
Once the turbo is up and running, will the supercharger remove itself from that system (via J808 and magnetic clutch?) or do they both keep churning even when the turbo is at full whack. You should definitely do this :)

• #31907
That's because she hasn't been in any of the others :-)
How about losing the turbo entirely in favour of a supercharger?
-
• #31908
...or just driving it and enjoying it?
-
• #31909
Or lose some power but gain better response with a smaller, lighter turbo?

Has anyone had any experience of Halfords MOTs?
Are they going to say I need my windscreen wipers changing then over-charge me for replacing them?
I need an MOT and they're close. I generally try to go to independent ones, but Halfords are closest and £30.
Cheers.

i had a rather surprisingly pleasant experience at Halfords last week. got downsold a stereo which yer man installed in a matter of minutes and my car hasn't exploded or been half-inched yet.

Also this recent estate chat has me wanting a 5 series gt (or a more realistic Octavia estate).

Cheers.
To be fair, I've been to my local one a few times for tools for my motorbike and they've always been really nice. Maybe I shouldn't be so judgmental.

i wouldn't buy a bike from them, but other than that, they seem to be pretty clued up.

My sister's police driving instructor reckons the mk3 octavia vrs is the best car he's ever driven, for what it's worth. My mk1 vrs is more than enough car for me and (apart from a current dodgy coil pack) has been basically trouble free and a fun drive for the past 8ish years I've owned it.

Yeah, from reading it does sound like an excellent all-rounder.
Although there have been a few times we've needed something bigger, lack of kids and access to a 4 door golf, means there's no need. Plus living in Ldn and out of the UK mean there are only 20-something ks on my 6yr old mini. Until there's an imperative it seems silly to sell.
I've driven a golf with the 1.4tsi engine auto which you can get in the Octavia. I really liked that engine as sensible real world balance of tax/ parking permits / but still nippy for a chubby car.... although leagues away from noz powered Volvos :(

Go for it the MOT tester should be impartial....but I would keep an eye on them.

As no one wants to play guess what the mundano failed on....a boot on the antiroll bar tie rod. Which the place i took the car for an MOT to, a tyre and exhaust place, quoted to replace both tie rods, and tracking too at £45 quid additional. So 300 including 45 for the MOT.
£2 boot and 15-20 minutes.Then MOT'd on christmas eve.

speaking of servicing. how often should i be considering having le defender looked at? i've not got the log book in front of me.
-
• #31923
What engine?
-
• #31924
What turbo are you running? Why not look for a more efficient turbo? Borg Warner EFR series are pretty well known for making very good power from low rpm.

2.2 turbo diesel.
aka a ford transit.
The Volvo/Yamaha V8 can go into the P2 chassis fairly (for an engine swap) easily, the P1 chassis doesn't have the room I don't think. Not that anyone has tried it, or so I believe.
