Swap the coil from cyl 2 to 4 or 1 and vice versa to the plug, if the misfire moves with either the coil or plug you know which it is, if it stays where it is then it is fuel injector/air leak or cyl related such as compression or coked intake allthough later is more likely across all cyls together

My brother had a series 3 swb pickup when we were young and I got into them a bit. I didn't know about the early razor bonnets, that's interesting. Thanks.
Looks like a lovely job you've done, congratulations and glws.

I just remembered another fast V8 estate. And one which we know is good for carrying bikes:

If you like ratty land-rovers, you might be into this... The mate that helped me restore Dora just sold his series 3, 109", high capacity pick up.

Right, swapped the coil packs from cylinder 1 and 2, cleared the code and now got a new code of p0301, so misfire on cylinder 1, suggesting it is a coil pack issue.
Checked the coil pack part numbers, looks like they are subject to the recall so I'll give the local skoda garage a shout tomorrow and see if I can get them to swap them out.

R36 passat very nice. The dsg in them is beefed up and gives no issues if given fresh oil and filters every 60,000 kays or so. Reserved and rapid enough. Not sure if low down oomph would be enough. It almost sound like dammit wants a diesel...
Good suggestion, this looks nice: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/passat/2008-58-reg--volkswagen-passat-3-6-v6-r36-dsg-4motion-5dr/6607969
But why is this a grand cheaper with half the miles: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/passat/volkswagen-passat-3-6-v6-r36-dsg-4motion-4dr-rare-car--low-miles-f-vw-s-h/5511297

Saloon innit.

The estate is considered more desirable?

But it's not an estate.
I bought a non estate by mistake. 90% of the time it's fine but annoying for those 10%

Beautiful. That's a fantastic vehicle. Riding around with the windscreen folded flat and the door tops off must be great fun. I'd love one but I'd barely use it. And, truth be told, Mrs Sparky's Vauxhall Corsa is a far more sensible way to get my mountain bike to the trails. Doesn't stop me wanting a Landy though...

Estate is much rarer I believe, especially in RHD

I wouldn't buy the saloon, but I'd quite like the estate to have ~50,000 miles fewer and be a grand cheaper.

Fox?
I'd love it, as I think @spotter may have mentioned to @Sam_Doman
Series III in that green or marine blue would be my Landy of choice.
But unfortunately I'm broke. Great job Sam!

A friend of a friend had one with a supercharger. It still felt slow. And rough.

"Landy" = "Fixie" pls no.
Sorry, yeah wasn't thinking it'd fix it, more that it'd narrow down what the problem is.
