What's the best way to set headset bearing preload on a bike with disc brakes? There is play in the pad on the front brake so it's impossible to tell if there's any play in the headset bearings.
Turn your handlebar 90 degree so the wheel is 90 degrees from the frame, put hand on headset, push bike back and forth (without holding brakes).
Most disc brake have a play in the pads, which is not noticeable when riding, only when pushing the bike backward.
