• Dora is now finished, freshly MOT'd etc, and officially up for sale, after a full restoration, including full professional engine rebuild (re-bored +20 pistons, crank ground, new head fitted fully re-conditioned injector pump and injectors etc), gearbox professionally rebuilt, Diffs changed for Range Rover ratios, increasing final drive ratio, meaning she comfortably cruises at 60mph. Chassis has been stripped, had some minor welding work done, and painted+clear waxoyl'd. All the body work has had a re-spray, and all the galvanising has been stripped and re hot-dipped. New galvanized front bumper, new sound deadening and carpets fitted up front, and checker-plate in the back. all new light lenses and new, uprated headlights. Everything fully re-wired and working perfectly. New custom made aluminium dash panel. etc etc...

    Basically it's like a brand new, 1972, short-wheelbase series 3 land rover, which should be good for another 45 years of driving! My question is- How much should I advertise her for? I've been recommended a guide price of about £11,000 but I've seen cars in similar condition advertised and selling for closer to £15,000. Does anyone on here have any ideas, or experience from selling older land-rovers/ older cars in general?

    Also: might anybody on here be interested, or know someone who may be interested, in purchasing such a vehicle?

  • I think Londoners want Defenders thatve been totally ruined with alloy wheels, tinted windows and an all-over graphite paint job.

    That Series deserves to stink of labradors and have a muddy mountain bike hanging out the back.
