It's much more difficult to galvanize an old chassis than a brand new one, and, basically, if you're going to do that, you might as well buy a brand new galvanized chassis for £3000, which the budget didn't allow for. as the chassis was sound, I decided to spend the money making a really thorough job of all the mechanical stuff. This chassis is in good shape, and paint and waxoyl are a very protective finish, they just require a bit more upkeep (an hour or so each autumn, adding a bit more waxoyl where necessary.
Fair enough. It looks very well done. It's just the sort of thing I'd love to buy and cart mountain bikes about in. Can't afford it not justify having it, sadly.
